IMechE Most Promising Engineer 2013 award
The IMechE’s Most Promising Engineer award is an annual award to recognise exceptional engineers in the North East of England. Candidates must be graduate mechanical engineers in the early stages of their career and be working towards, or having recently attained, chartered status with the IMechE.
They must also be able to clearly demonstrate rapid and quality career progression within their organisation. Assystem Sunderland nominated 4 engineers for this year’s award, who joined several other engineers from around the North East. The candidates were interviewed for 30 mins each on their experience and their views of the engineering profession in the UK.
The winner this year, and recipient of the Arthur Coakley Memorial Trophy was Sebastian Dimmock (Team Leader and Chartered Senior Mechanical Engineer at Assystem Sunderland). Sebastian joins colleague Gareth Bowie (Winner in 2011) meaning that Assystem has won 2 out of the last 3 awards. The judging panel (which comprised members from award sponsors The Wilton Group and its subsidiary; PD&MS Energy) selected Sebastian based on his “achievements to date and enthusiasm for the future”.
Sebastian received the award at the IMechE’s North East Region Annual Charity Dinner on the 19th of April at Hardwick Hall, Sedgefield.
