Europe’s ‘largest’ rooftop solar project complete

A solar plant installed across eleven hectares of roof – believed to be the “largest” in Europe – is now online in southern Germany.

The 8.1MW plant includes 33,000 solar panels and covers the distribution centre for Pfenning logistics across two hall complexes in Heddesheim municipality, south of Frankfurt.

The project is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to meet the demands of around 1,846 households and save up to 5,171 tons of carbon emissions.
