Main Job Function

Assystem has an urgent and ongoing requirement in support of our key Marine/Oil & Gas clients to recruit experienced Marine Engineers at senior and principal level for employment in our Assystem Sunderland office as well as client sites in North East England and Aberdeen.  We require Marine Engineers in the following disciplines:

  • Mechanical
  • Electrical
  • Control and Instrumentation
  • Structural

Assystem Sunderland office based engineers would be expected to visit client sites on an occasional basis.  We are looking for engineers who are able to lead teams and drive through work packages.

Typical duties will include review of concept designs against operational requirements and the subsequent sign off of specifications.

Positions are available as both permanent staff and on a contractor basis

Requirements

  • Marine experienced mechanical, structural and EC&I Engineers
  • Marine offshore design experience, with examples of experience in Pipe-layers, FPSO and drillship vessels.  From concept design through to detailed design
  • Senior and Principal level able to lead teams and drive work packages

Qualifications

  • Relevant Degree qualifications or substantial relevant experience within the offshore marine sector

From one oil and gas hotspot to another – the UK airline bmi is launching new scheduled flights between Aberdeen in Scotland and Kristiansund in Norway. The first direct, scheduled air link between the two cities will begin at the end of August.

Aberdeen is one of Scotland’s major onshore bases for North Sea exploration while Kristiansund is the major oil and gas city on Norway’s mid north-western coast and oil companies such as Shell and Statoil have offices there.

UK oil firm’s new North Sea discovery

An oil firm has announced a discovery at one of its exploration well in the UK North Sea, more than 150km offshore from Aberdeen.

The Bonneville well was drilled to a total depth of 4,481 feet and Premier Oil found approximately 30 million barrels of oil, which it claims is in line with its pre-drill predictions.

The firm has also discovered gas in the Matang-1 exploration well in Indonesia, which will now be tested.

Aberdeen shipping firm bags £63m BP contract

Aberdeen shipping firm bags £63m BP contract

An Aberdeen-based shipping company has bagged a contract worth £63 million to support BP’s operations in the North Sea.

Under the five year contract, North Star Shipping – a division of the global shipping and energy services firm The Craig Group – will provide tanker assistance, platform supply and energy and response rescue ships. Four vessels, including the Grampian Dee (pictured), have been contracted for the deal.

Douglas Craig, Chairman and Managing Director of the Craig Group said: “The vessels meet BP’s expectations in terms of safety, operability and efficiency and we continue to look for ways to provide the most innovative, cost effective solutions for all our customers.”

The Craig Group fleet, operated by North Star, now has 35 vessels in service.
